What is the difference between Nursing & Residential Care?
The main difference between nursing and residential care is that nursing care takes into account the medical care that certain individuals require, for ongoing or complicated health issues and medical conditions.
Both our residential and nursing care offerings provide residents with 24-hour help and support, including daily tasks such as cleaning and laundry. In some cases, residents may require support with their personal care, such as bathing, dressing and personal grooming.
How much does a care home cost?
The cost of care is tailored to the individual needs of each resident and the specific home they choose to reside in. Our weekly fee is all-inclusive, ensuring the highest standard of care and comfort, and covers the following exceptional services:
Elegant Accommodation: A spacious, private room with a luxurious ensuite shower room, offering a tranquil and personal retreat.
Gourmet Dining: Exquisite meals prepared daily by our skilled chefs, using only the finest ingredients to cater to the unique dietary preferences and requirements of each resident.
Comprehensive Laundry and Housekeeping: A meticulous service ensuring both personal garments and living spaces are maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness and elegance.
Curated Activities: A selection of exclusive, wellness-focused activities designed to nurture physical health, emotional wellbeing, and a strong sense of community.
The Home Manager is available to provide the specific weekly fee, which is fully inclusive of all the luxurious services outlined above, and will be pleased to offer personalised advice based on individual care needs.
What is safeguarding in a care home?
Care home safeguarding means that the health, wellbeing and rights of our residents are of the utmost priority, ensuring individuals are treated with the respect and dignity that they deserve.
Our residents are able to live in comfort and will come to no harm, abuse or neglect. It is our responsibility at Dunham Care to dedicate our efforts to upholding these commitments to protecting quality of life.
What happens if my funds run out during my stay in your nursing home?
If a resident has assets over £23,250, they will need to cover the full cost of care themselves unless they qualify for Continuing Health Care Funding.
Once a resident’s assets fall below this threshold, they will be assessed by the Local Authority, which may contribute towards the cost of care. However, in most cases, the Local Authority’s contribution will be lower than the care home fees, meaning a Third Party Top-up will be required.
If you’re unsure about what to do, please speak with the Home Manager for more guidance.
You are welcome to visit anytime – this is your loved one’s home, and we want you to feel comfortable here. We just ask that you try to avoid meal times and late evenings, though we understand this isn’t always possible.
Residents have the freedom to go out with family or on their own, whenever they wish, as this is their home and they are free to enjoy it as they please.
